My privilege
Jan. 12, 2009 2 Comments Posted under: friends, women
Yesterday at church I had the privilege of attending a baptism. My friend asked the members of our women’s small group to stand with her. I can’t remember when I’ve been so excited and so proud. And so blessed.
After the baptism–because we’re women–we shared a group hug. I couldn’t help but think that we’ve become sisters, this group of very diverse women. They rescued me at a time in my life when I was so in need, so desperate for friendship. They did it on purpose, I found out later. It’s just like them. We have and will support each other through celebrations and sadness and injuries and sickness, through divorce and anniversaries, through graduations and grandchildren and menopause.
I’m so grateful to the God who has given me the opportunity to know so many amazing women. To have them in my life, past and present, to learn from them and grow with them, and to know that, as sisters, we will spend more than lifetimes together.

I am blessed by amazing women, too.
And I’d rather visit a blog than Facebook or My Space any day. LOL
