Thoughts on Mother’s Day

I love Mother’s Day. I love being able to say, “Sorry…you can’t do that/watch that/say that. It’s Mother’s Day.” It only happens once a year, so I figure that I have to take full advantage of it.
I wish I could say I’m Queen of the house all the time, but my royalty goes sadly unrecognized the majority of the year. No one jumps to do my bidding. While the poodles do follow me around a lot, they don’t exactly listen when I say things like bring me the royal hairbrush.
My youngest wanted to know why there’s not a Daughter’s Day. I told her it’s because every day is Daughter’s Day. It’s not fair, really, when you think about it…that there’s only ONE Mother’s Day.
Hee. I don’t wonder if my kids love me–I’m so grateful that they do. I’m thankful that my mom showed me an example of selfless love (though to be fair, I’m way more selfish than she was and is). I love being a mom. My young royals make it worth it, every day.
